Suggested by Keisuke Kinoshita’s famous film Twenty-Four Eyes (Nijushi no hitomi, 1954), this film finds Tora-san helping runaway neighbor Akemi, who left Shibamata to work as a bar hostess in Shimoda. Together they travel to Shikine Island, where they meet eleven elementary students and where Tora-san falls in love with their beautiful teacher. When the teacher stops in Shibamata on the way to visit her sick father, Tora-san’s hopes of a lasting love are raised and dashed once again.
